Three Catholic Bishops Maurice Crowly of Kitale Diocese, Philip Anyolo (Homa Bay Diocese) and outgoing Bungoma Diocese Bishop Norman Kingóo on Monday presided over the silver jubilee fete of five priests at St Rose of Lima Amukura Parish.
Amukura Parish Priest Fr. Dunstan Epaalat, John Sulumeti (Kimilili Parish), Leonard Ekisa ( Tindinyo Seminary), Pius Lukhale (Kimatunyi Parish) and Protus Osyanju of Sirisia Parish marked their 25 years of dedicated service to the Church by jointly cutting a cake to mark the occasion.
Quoting 1Timothy 1:12 the priests thanked God for enabling them reach that far and Christians from their respective parishes for their support in making their spiritual nourishment mission tenable.
Bishop King’oo who will officially take over his duties in Machakos Diocese on August 25th said 25 years as a priest iS no mean achievement and told Christians to guard the Church jealously.
King’oo who has served in Bungoma Diocese for 20 years lauded women Catholics for their dedicated service to the church and for standing with him.
“With women there is future, and for men, you are leaders in the church and in your families.”
Bishop Anyolo who is also the chairman of Kenyan Catholics urged more youth to join priesthood saying the current priests were overworked. He said there is also urgent need to send new Bishops to Bungoma, Eldoret, Malindi and Kitui Dioceses which are vacant.
Bishop Crowly lauded Bishop King’oo’s dedicated service to Bungoma Diocese Christians saying the person to replace him might not fit into his shoes.
Present at the fete included First Lady Judy Ojaamong, County Executive Committee Member for Public Works Okwara Ekirapa and Chief Officer in the Office of the Deputy Governor Andrew Otiti.
