Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has today reiterated his Presidential ambition in the 2022 general election. Speaking at the homecoming ceremony of Emuhaya MP Hon. Omboko Milemba, at Emusire grounds, Oparanya said that he is set for taking Kenya to a higher leadership lever as President.
The Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB), said the fourteen member counties are implementing the bloc’s four agendas of empowering citizens economically through a development bank, the revival of the sugar and tea sectors, afforestation and improving on maritime transport in the region.
Oparanya, who was flanked by several MPs from Kakamega County; Benard Shinali (Ikolomani), Ayub Savula (Lugari) Titus Khamala (Lurambi), Tindi Mwale (Butere), Justus Murunga (Matungu) and MCA’s led by the Majority Leader Joel Ongoro and Minority Leader David Ndakwa, thanked Hon. Milemba for his gesture and extended a warm welcome to Kenyans to converge in Kakamega for this year’s Mashujaa Day to be commemorated on 20th October.
Other speakers included Vihiga Governor H.E Wilbur Ottichilo, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli and Kakamega Senator Hon. Cleophas Malala, all of whom supported President Uhuru Kenyatta’s war on graft and asked him to appoint a professional commission of inquiry to unearth all the sugar barons in Kenya and bring them to book in efforts to revive the limping sugar industry.
The colorful event was also attended by several Honourable Members from the region, locals and other invited guests.
