National Teams Will be Fully Funded- President Uhuru Kenyatta

Deputy President William Ruto dashes to the finish line in the 21km Beyond Zero Half Marathon at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday

All National Teams will be fully funded by the Government starting this year; President Uhuru Kenyatta has given the assurance.
Speaking during the 4th beyond Zero Half Marathon at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, the President said sports, culture, and arts will take center stage in their agenda.
The National soccer, Rugby, netball, athletes and all national teams will be fully funded,” he said, noting that this has been made possible, thanks to the funds they have put together.
Uhuru said he will be among the athletes to compete in the 5th edition of the event in 2020 with prospects of him featuring in the 5km or 10km races.
Deputy President Dr. William Ruto took part in the 21km race and returned in a time of 2hours 04 minutes 12seconds, his personal best.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, the brain behind the Marathon which aims at ensuring no mother dies while giving birth, took part in the 10km race and returned in 1 hour 50 minutes and 56 seconds.
For the first time the event featured 2km race for expectant mothers. Others events included wheelchair, tricycle, 21km, 10km and 5km.
Also in attendance were former Prime Minister Haile Mariam Desalegn and his wife Roman Tesfaye.
Jospehat Bett emerged in the 21km winner in a time of 1:01.34 to take home Sh250, 000. The women event was won by Brilliant Kipkoech.
Among those who took part in the races were Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge and Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.
